Structural, shear and volume relaxation in a commercial float glass during aging

نویسندگان

چکیده

Density, Raman spectroscopy and viscosity measurements are utilized to probe, respectively, the volume, structural shear relaxation behavior of a Na-Ca-Mg silicate glass standard commercial float composition at ∼80 °C below its calorimetric transition. The results, when taken together, indicate that lowering fictive temperature during aging results in Q-species disproportionation type Q2+Q4→2Q3, all three processes characterized by stretched exponential kinetics with similar average timescale (〈τ〉∼ 300 h) stretching exponent (β ∼ 0.4), implying close mechanistic relationship. It is hypothesized coexistence strongly weakly constrained domains or moieties network supercooled liquid can give rise temporal decoupling between processes, as has been reported some recent studies literature.

Aging in a Structural Glass

We discuss the relaxation dynamics of a simple structural glass which has been quenched below its glass transition temperature. We demonstrate that time correlation functions show strong aging effects and investigate in what way the fluctuation dissipation theorem is violated. Logarithmic relaxation and stress aging in the electron glass

Slow relaxation and aging of the conductance are experimental features of a range of materials, which are collectively known as electron glasses. We report dynamic Monte Carlo simulations of the standard electron glass lattice model. In a nonequilibrium state, the electrons will often form a Fermi distribution with an effective electron temperature higher than the phonon bath temperature. We st...

Structural relaxation of Ti40Zr25Ni8Cu9Be18 bulk metallic glass

The enthalpy relaxation behavior of Ti40Zr25Ni8Cu9Be18 bulk metallic glass follows the general characteristics of that for amorphous materials although its unique quenched-in nuclei/amorphous matrix structure: the annealing time dependence of recovery enthalpy follows a stretched exponential function with the mean relaxation time obeying an Arrhenius law, which may be due to the longer incubati...

A cutting and scheduling problem in float glass manufacturing

This paper considers a cutting and scheduling problem of minimizing scrap motivated by float glass manufacturing and introduces the FGSP (float glass scheduling problem). We relate it to classical problems in the scheduling literature such as no-wait hybrid flow shops and cyclic scheduling. We show that the problem is NP-hard, and identify when each of the problem’s components are polynomially ...

Glass-glass transition during aging of a colloidal clay.

Colloidal suspensions are characterized by a variety of microscopic interactions, which generate unconventional phase diagrams encompassing fluid, gel and glassy states and offer the possibility to study new phase and/or state transitions. Among these, glass-glass transitions are rare to be found, especially at ambient conditions. Here, through a combination of dilution experiments, X-ray photo...
